Self-Drive Experience

Not a walk-in car rental. This is a guided-by-GPS jeep tour where you’re behind the wheel — our route, our support, your drive.

What Self-Drive Means

Self-drive gives you control of one of our jeeps for the tour, with a GPS route guiding the way. It is your jeep for the day, the route leads you, and a guide is reachable throughout without riding over your shoulder. Open the link on your phone, follow the arrow — same as Google Maps, just through the parts of Croatia that Google Maps does not know to recommend.

Self-drive is available as part of the Full-day Classic tour; see the Tours page for pricing and formats.

Our Fleet

Three jeeps. Three real colours.

Turquoise off-road Jeep parked outdoors

Grand Cherokee WJ — Turquoise

A retro turquoise, the colour of a clear morning sky over camp — paired, in spirit, with the smell of coffee brewed on the fire before first light.

Red off-road SUV parked on a grassy hilltop overlooking a valley

Grand Cherokee ZJ — Red

The red of the finest mountain mud in the Dinarides — the kind of pigment that never quite leaves your tyres, or your clothes, once it gets into them.

Yellow Jeep Wrangler off-road on a dirt trail

Wrangler JL — Golden Yellow

Golden-yellow, the colour of dry mountain grass across the Dinarides at the end of summer.

Three jeeps, three colours pulled straight from the Dinaric landscape — easy to spot on the trail, and even easier to spot in your photos.

Before You Book
  • Valid driver’s license, category B or higher.
  • License issued in the EU, or an International Driving Permit alongside your national license.
  • Active travel/health insurance covering outdoor and off-road activity — arranging this is your responsibility, we’ll simply remind you.
  • Minimum age: 18+ to drive, 7+ as a passenger.
  • Please tell us about any condition that could be serious without nearby medical help (heart conditions, epilepsy, severe allergies), and carry any medication you need.
  • A liability waiver, signed at least 24 hours before your tour — this also covers consent for tour photos/video used in our marketing.
A Quick Chat Before We Confirm

Self-drive tours travel into remote terrain — hours from phone signal and paved roads. Before confirming a self-drive booking, we ask a few questions to make sure it’s the right fit.

Before we confirm your booking, we’d like to know a bit more about you. Our routes take you to places where there’s no phone signal and no tarmac for hours. That’s exactly the point — but it means we need to know you’re ready for it. This isn’t gatekeeping. It’s respect for the terrain, the vehicle, and your own safety.

In practice: a short online questionnaire (about 3 minutes) after you choose a self-drive tour, before payment. Most guests are confirmed right away. A small number of borderline cases get a short, informal 10–15 minute phone or WhatsApp call — a friendly chat, not a test. If self-drive isn’t the right fit, we redirect you to our guided tour rather than turning you away — same stunning locations, with a local driver handling the terrain and local knowledge you simply can’t get from a GPS.

Safety, Built In
  • Every vehicle carries a full safety kit: first aid, tow rope, spare fuel, physical regional map as GPS backup, and extra water.
  • Convoys of multiple vehicles stay in contact by walkie-talkie.
  • A guide is reachable throughout your self-drive tour, even though you’re driving yourself.
  • Your GPS route is pre-loaded and tracked — you’re never navigating blind.
